Leather for the upper comes from Sweden or Finland, and for the lining I use reindeer leather from Finland. I source from people and companies that I know personally. Colours and shades of vegetable-tanned leathers vary from pale nude to dark brown. If different colours are needed, I dye the leather myself.

Felt Pieksu boots are made of 100% lambswool from Germany. I also love to experiment with other materials, such as fish skin or turning a pair of jeans into boots, as You can see in the pictures.

The warmest of any boots in the world are boots made of reindeer leg fur. This locally harvested material is the dearest and also the most challenging of them all. The colours of the hair, the thickness and stiffness of it, and the narrow shape of the skin all keep a craftswoman humble.

I use mainly Finnish or Italian outsoles in my Pieksu boots, but they can also be made with leather or fur outsoles.
