I am Virpi Jääskö, Taveämmi. A craftswoman born and living in Inari, journeywoman shoemaker.
I first learned shoe making with traditional reindeer fur boots. Later I went to study shoe making, and started re-designing and modifying the old model. This is my way of bringing something new to the tradition.
Most of my boots are custom-made to order, but every now and then I take the time to work on my own designs. Handcrafting boots is a process where each pair becomes part of my story, as well as the story of the person who will wear them.
